Don’t get deterred by the name of the show because although it talks about adult elements and themes, the show is more educational than vulgar. If this is your first time streaming or thinking about streaming this Netflix series, we’d recommend that you watch it with an open mind because that is what the show is all about.

From teaching you about sexualities to respectful physical intimacy and relationships, the series takes you through a roller coaster ride that you wouldn’t be able to get enough of. Released in 2019, the series currently has two seasons.

The show, right after the release of the first season managed to gain over 40 million views from across the globe, making it one of the heavily watched series in the world. So, it wasn’t even a question that the show got a renewal for the second season pretty soon after that.

Created by Laurie Nunn, the show’s second season aired in 2020 and has already been renewed for a third season that is going to be released in 2021. If you are planning on starting to binge-watch this show before the third season comes out, we’d urge you to do it now.

What is the Plot of Sex Education?

The plot of the show follows the life of Otis, a 6th Structure understudy whose mom, Jean is a sex advisor. However, things aren’t very good for Otis who struggles to battle issues with jerking himself off.

When he meets with his closest friend, Eric, who is out and proud gay, listens to Otis and says that he is the only one in the group who hasn’t gotten it on in the summer while the rest of their group has engaged in sexual relations over the year.

In another half of the story, Adam, who is the child of the director, finds himself having a hard time being able to reach his climax when he is being physically intimate with his partner, Aimee. Frustrated with the situation, Aimee goes on to share the problem with Maeve, who is known for her notoriety around the school.

Later, Aimee throws a house party where the majority of the students from the school come in to have their share of fun. Amid everything, Otis and Maeve try to discover customers in the party that they can advise too. In an attempt to teach the girls how to give a fellacia, Eric uses a banana for demonstrating the actual act.

However, things take a complete turn for the worse when one of the girls end up gagging and vomiting witnessing that happening. Otis and Maeve become close in the meantime and Maeve soon finds that she has to prematurely give birth and asks Otis to accompany her as a date.

In the later part of the show, Eric is chosen as part of the school’s swig band and Lily offers to assist him in the role. Back in their house, Lily tries to make a move on Eric thinking they would get to engage in sexual relations, only to find that Eric is gay. Brushing it aside, Eric and Lily sit back and play with cosmetics and watch gay erotic and adult movies.

With the basic information about the plot and the cast out of the way, the next thing to focus on is the actual index of the episodes that you can binge-watch.

Season 1

Number of episodes – 8

Season 2

Number of episodes – 8

The seasons don’t have individual titles for each episode, which is a bummer; however, that is how it has been for the first two seasons of the show. As for the third season, we aren’t sure what we can expect from the same, given the fact that there is no official confirmation about the potential release date for the same.

Conclusion

Just because the web series is titled Sex Education doesn’t mean its all PG13. That isn’t the case. The creators of the show have managed to blend in themes of the stigma that most of the students avoid talking about in the open. Sex and sexual orientation are topics that have become taboo among several people in society and this series helps break down those barriers and discuss these important topics out in the open for better understanding and improved acceptance as well.
