Rishabh Pant Likely To Miss forthcoming edition of IPL

Being a sportsperson comes with a lot of challenges, ups, and downs. Injuries and accidents are often common markers in the whole process.

In recent news, Rishabh Pant experienced a very severe ligament tear, leading to speculations that the player might be out of the pitch for the upcoming 6 months. If the rumors are true, it also solidifies the fact that Pant might be out of the forthcoming IPL.

Rishabh Pant, who recently escaped a life-threatening accident on December 30, 2022, had to be rushed to the hospital in Mumbai, where he underwent a complicated surgery to fix his knee ligament injury. The cricketer was airlifted from Dehradun to Mumbai on January 04 for further treatment.

When admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, the doctors there claimed that the ligament tear that Pant experienced is similar to what Ravindra Jadeja experienced just last year. This further highlighted the possibility that Pant will most likely be out of the field for the next 6 months.

The all-rounder cricketer Ravindra Jadeja experienced a similar injury, which kept him out of the field for a good part of the season, including the Asia Cup 2022.

With the degree of severity of Pant’s tear, there is a lot of possibility that the player will end up missing a lot of upcoming tournaments, including the IPL and Asia Cup 2023. BCCI hasn’t shared any official information or confirmation regarding the extent of the injury yet.

Whether or not Pant will be missing out on the entire season or a few upcoming tournaments is something we’d have to wait for further reports on. According to the available reports, Pant was on his way to Roorkee where he was supposed to go meet his mother when the car crash happened.

Reports suggest that the governing body is consistently working with Pant to ensure his recovery after the traumatic injury that he sustained from the accident.

This won’t be the first case of a ligament tear in sports, especially in the cricket world. Most players are often subject to this, especially because the injury can happen due to strain or excess pressure put on the ligament. Besides excruciating pain, the condition also leads to potential risks of stiffness and immobility in the injured area in the limbs.

Whether or not Rishabh Pant will experience the brunt of this is something we’d have to wait and watch in the future.
