Apple's Next Big Thing: What We Know About the iPhone 16

Apple recently revealed its latest iPhone models, but already, speculation is swirling about what the next version will offer. The tech giant is expected to unveil the iPhone 16 later this year, possibly in September, alongside iOS 18. From design to software updates, and price, here’s a rundown of everything we have heard about the upcoming iPhone 16 series.

According to insider reports, Apple is set to shake up the design of its iPhone 16 Pro series. Sources suggest that both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro models will see increases in screen size, marking a departure from previous models.

Meanwhile, leaked renders suggest that the standard iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 could sport a redesigned camera setup. These renders depict a vertical alignment for the rear cameras, housed within a pill-shaped enclosure. There’s also speculation about Apple streamlining the device’s buttons and possibly introducing an Action button, similar to those found on the Pro variants.

Expectations are high for the iPhone 16’s performance, particularly with the rumoured introduction of the new A17 chip. While the base models may feature a slightly slower version compared to the A17 Pro chips found in the iPhone 15 Pro variants, users can still anticipate a boost in efficiency and power.

Apple’s forthcoming iOS 18 update promises significant changes, potentially resembling the VisionOS design with integrated generative AI features and rounded icons. Rumours suggest additional customization options, along with enhancements to stock apps like Notes and Mail.

To address user concerns about charging speed and battery life, Apple is rumoured to be incorporating stacked battery technology into the iPhone 16 lineup. This advancement could lead to improved battery performance and faster charging times, revolutionizing the overall user experience.

The iPhone 16 is expected to maintain a dual-camera setup similar to its predecessor, while the Pro models may boast a triple-camera configuration. Notable upgrades include a potential 48MP ultrawide sensor for the Pro models, along with an enhanced eight-part hybrid lens for improved nighttime and low-light photography on the Pro Max variant.  There’s also speculation about the inclusion of a 5x telephoto lens, previously seen in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Tech enthusiasts are excited about Apple’s next flagship release. With potential advancements in design, performance, software, and camera technology, the iPhone 16 series could offer users a significant upgrade when it hits the shelves later this year.
