Developed by Bob Mackey and Michael Green, Yono Clip is a suction cup-based click that easily sticks to any smooth surface and can hang your belongings without keeping it anywhere. It is attached with a hook and clip and can hold up to 15 pounds. The product was founded in 2020 as people realised more about the value of maintaining hygiene. About the Brand
Yono Clip was founded in 2020 during the time when the world was dealing with COVID. It was founded by Bob Mackey and Michael Green and was made available to the public in the same year. The phase of COVID laid the foundation of the product, and the founders knew the struggle of hygiene when traveling with their belongings.
Yono Clip comes in a portable size, with a suction cup hook, and can easily be attached to any smooth surface, holding about 15 pounds of weight, giving customers an option to not keep their bags on the dirty surface. Earlier, the product was introduced through 3D printed prototypes, and funds were raised through small crowdfunding. It was available in different colours like red, blue, black, green, and pink, and was sold at $19.99 per piece. The product gained huge attention when it appeared on Shark Tank, Season 12, and Episode 8.
About the Founders
The founders of Yono Clip are Bob Mackey and Michael Green, both based in Georgia, USA. Michael Green was an entrepreneur and motivational speaker, and the lack of a clean surface to keep or hang his bags made him think of a solution, which reached its peak during COVID when hygiene became a huge concern.
Bob Mackey was the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Georgia and collaborated with Mackey to turn this thought into a reality. Both of them started to develop a prototype using 3D painting Technology, and with their knowledge, learning, expertise, and skills, they were able to create Yono Clip in 2020 and presented it later on Shark Tank in 2021.
What Happened at Shark Tank?
Green and Mackey appeared on Shark Tank Season 12 Episode 8 that aired on 5th February 2021, and started the pitch by sharing the story about how they came up with the idea of developing this product. They explained the struggle people face to keep their belongings and bags on a clean surface.
They even shared that they made $14,500 by selling the products in the last 2 months, and how their Kickstarter campaign sold off products of $10,000 in a single day. They asked for $150,000 in exchange for a 15% stake in the company.
Barbara thought that the product was not necessary for everyone, so she stepped out; Mark Cuban thought that the product was not good enough to make an investment in, and Kevin also stepped out, stating that he had made an investment in a similar product. Daymond found the product interesting and made a final offer of $150,000 in exchange for 30% equity, but the deal was locked at $150,000 in exchange for 20%.
Is the Brand Successful?
Post the appearance on Shark Tank, the brand is neither doing too great or too bad and has present annual revenue of $400,000. Some sources say that the present valuation of the company stands at $500,000.
