What can we expect from Call the Midwife Season 13?

Season 13 takes us deeper into the late 1960s, a period marked by a growing demand for home births. The midwives of Nonnatus House find themselves at the forefront of this movement, advocating for women’s choices while navigating the complexities of home deliveries.

This season promises a captivating blend of heartwarming moments and challenging storylines. We’ll see Dr. Turner grapple with the ethical considerations of home births, particularly when a mother with cerebral palsy goes into labor.

Social issues also take center stage as midwives encounter families struggling with poor housing conditions, teenage pregnancy, and rare medical diagnoses. The ever-present theme of community spirit remains strong.

The residents of Nonnatus House face their challenges, including a “Raise the Roof Campaign” for better pay and working conditions, which sparks debate and highlights the changing social landscape for nurses and midwives.

New pupil midwives join the ranks at Nonnatus House, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the team. We can also expect to see the return of familiar faces dealing with personal struggles and triumphs.

However, before anything, we’d highly recommend that you go out of your way and catch up with all the previous seasons before you start watching Season 13.
