It cleans and rinses surfaces automatically and was launched in 2019 at a local trade show before it was made available on Amazon at an affordable price. The company later pitched its product on season 12 of Shark Tank with the hope of securing an investment and expanding its business.

About The Founders

The Side Hustle Homies, including Matt Hosey, Jeff Dakin, and Tyler Kessler, founded The Scrubbie to change the way people clean and give them a more convenient option.

They debuted The Scrubbie at a 2019 local trade fair and built it mostly from personal funds while the trio attended their day jobs to earn a living.

What Happened On Shark Tank?

Like many other startups, The Scrubbie pitched their product on Shark Tank, asking Sharks for $100,000 for 10 % equity and valuing the company at $1 million. 

They demonstrated their product and showed the Sharks how easily it can be attached to hoses and faucets, but trouble surfaced when they questioned them about sales. The trio couldn’t answer the questions properly and gave vague answers, which, needless to say, left the Sharks unimpressed.

Sharks Robert Herjavec and Lori Greiner pointed out how similar the packaging was to Scrub Daddy, another grave point against the brand that ruined their chances of securing a deal. 

All the Sharks dropped out one by one as they were concerned about the product and its sales, claiming they didn’t trust the brand enough.

The Scrubbie is still in business despite not getting a deal from the Sharks and even rolled out Scrubbie 2.0, an improved version of the original product. The brand got a major boost in its sales after the Shark Tank episode was aired, helping them ship out large volumes of product afterward.
