TikTok's Add to Music App Expands To 163 New Countries, Including Kenya

In a significant development for music enthusiasts worldwide, TikTok’s Add to Music App has now reached 163 additional countries, including Kenya. Following its successful introduction in 2023, TikTok has officially announced the global rollout of the Add to Music App to users in these new territories, marking a major expansion effort.

The Add to Music App allows users to save the tracks they find on TikTok to their preferred music streaming services. This new feature is now set to revolutionize the music discovery experience for millions of users. With this feature, music lovers can seamlessly capture their favourite tracks on TikTok and save them for later enjoyment on their chosen music platforms.

This expansion not only benefits users but also holds promising implications for artists looking to amplify their reach and connect with new audiences.

Global Head of Distribution Partnerships at TikTok Isaac Bess, expressed excitement about the potential impact of the Add to Music App, stating that they are enhancing the music discovery experience for both users and artists on TikTok.

The availability of the Add to Music App in these new countries signifies TikTok’s commitment to fostering global music engagement and discovery.

This new feature appears as an “Add Song” button beside track names in TikTok videos within the “For You” feed.

The “Add Song” button allows users to seamlessly save songs to their preferred music streaming service directly from TikTok. Upon tapping the button for the first time, users can select their preferred streaming platform for saving the chosen track.

Once selected, the track is automatically saved to a default playlist on the chosen music streaming platform. However, users also have the flexibility to add the track to either an existing or a new playlist of their choice.

This innovative feature has garnered significant excitement among music enthusiasts, as it allows them to quickly transition from discovering new music on TikTok to enjoying it on their favourite streaming platform.

Furthermore, this integration is expected to facilitate greater exposure for emerging artists and aid in the discovery of potential chart-topping hits.

Bess added that they are thrilled to reach this feature to millions of music fans around the world.

In addition to its appearance next to track names in TikTok videos, users can also utilize the “Add to Music App” function from an artist’s “Sound Detail” page, further enhancing accessibility and convenience.
