The primary plot, however, is about Patrick Jane’s engagement with the CBI to look into and find Red John, who killed Charlotte Anne Jane’s father, Angela Ruskin Jane, and Jane’s wife, Angela Ruskin Jane. From episodes 4 to 6, the emphasis shifts from common cases to apprehending the psychopath Red John and his imitators. When the FBI intervenes to shut down the CBI in the middle of season 6, the Red John story is resolved, and the show then changes direction for the final 1.5 seasons while introducing some new characters.
