Reports suggest Apple may launch MagSafe Duo wireless charger shortly

Reports suggest Apple’s MagSafe Duo wireless charger has been found on the website of Korean compliance. When Apple introduced its iPhone 12 series, it also introduced the support for MacSafe wireless charging. This will include iPhone 12 models including iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro max, iPhone 12 Mini, And basic iPhone 12 model.

Accessories like MagSafe charger, MagSafe Duo accessory, and some wider range of cases were also introduced at this event. MagSafe’s wireless charger and some cases were on sale in the market by October 16, but the availability info and price range of MagSafe Duo were not announced back then.

As the accessory has now been found on Korea’s compliance site named National Radio Research Agency (NRRA), this indicates that Apple might be working on the product now and is planning to unveil it shortly.

It was MacRumors that found out about MagSafe Duo wireless charger first on Korea’s compliance site. In the listing, MacRumors could not find any info about the availability or price but it hinted that Apple is working on the launch of MagSafe Duo wireless charger.

MagSafe Highlight: MagSafe Duo wireless charger is known for its ultimate efficiency to charge both the Apple Watch and the iPhone simultaneously, while MagSafe wireless charger is capable of charging just the iPhone.

At the launch event of the iPhone 12, Apple stated that MagSafe Duo will be launched after quite some time. It did not mention any specific date of launch. In India, the MagSafe charger is available at the cost of Rs 4500. As per the US rate, it costs about $39. So, the MagSafe Duo will be quite expensive than this price for its functionalities.

According to a recent report published in Apple support pages, it has stated that iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Max will support charging capacity up to 15 W using MagSafe Chargers, while iPhone Mini supports MagSafe wireless charging up to 12 W. The lightning headphones that are workable with MagSafe charger will provide wireless charging speed up to 7.5 W, which is of standard capacity.

According to Apple, the iPhone 12 series phones with cases that are of thickness above 2.1mm might not get charged using a MagSafe charger. Though the thickness recommendation is 2.0 mm, the cases that support MagSafe should be uniformly thick at 2.1 mm.
