Early Life
Moulay Hassan, the crown prince, is the only son and the eldest child of King Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma, and was born on 8th May 2003 in Rabat, Morocco. Named as Moulay El Hassan bin Mohammed, his father is the present king of Morocco, and Moulay has been named after his grandfather, King Hassan II. He only has one sibling, Princess Lalla Khajida, who was born in 2007.
Moulay, as born in the royal family of Morocco, was raised in a private and close-knit environment, where he was taught about the royal traditions from a very young age, and he was exposed to face public life very early. From a very young age, he is accompanied his father in royal meeting and affairs, to prepare him for his role as the King after his father.
He went to the Royal College in Rabat to complete his early education and a school where all members from the royal family went to. In 2019, he supervised the graduation ceremony of the 19th Advanced Defense Course and 53rd Staff Course. The same year, he represented his country and father by appearing for the funeral of French President Jacques Chirac in Paris, where he stood beside the world leaders.
During 2022 and 2023, Moulay expanded his appearances other than military and defense and started to represent his father at multiple events and other ceremonies, and by 2024, he started to appear more internationally to strengthen his role as the prince.
On July 31st, 2025, he was promoted to Colonel Major in the Royal Armed Forces, which showcases his professional achievements.
