Ian Stapleton aka Ssundee was born in Michigan on 2nd December 1987 and has both Irish and African heritage. Even though he is a famous personality, details about his parents and early life are not widely known. 

Some online sources claim that he spent his childhood, living in various places, including Louisiana, and Virginia. At 16, he relocated to South Carolina, where he spent 11 years.

Before becoming a YouTuber, Ssundee served in the Air Force and was content with his military career. However, later he changed his mind and chose YouTube as a full-time career.

Career

Ssundee started his YouTube channel on 27th November 2009 and uploaded his first Minecraft video on 14th September 2010. This video, along with his previous Call of Duty videos, has since been made private. By 2013, Ssundee reached 1 million subscribers. The same year, he introduced his alter-ego, Derp Ssundee in a video about the Corruption Dimension Mod for Minecraft.

Derp Ssundee appeared alongside Lanceypooh’s alter-ego, Eddy, when they started collaborating. In 2013, Ssundee joined Team Crafted, which boosted his popularity in the Minecraft community. However, he left the team in mid-2014 for personal reasons.

On 19th November 2013, Ssundee dropped a Minecraft video called “Minecraft SuperCraft Bros 45,” featuring a collaboration with Lanceypooh. The pair created numerous Minecraft videos together. During their collaboration, Ssundee developed a humorous obsession with Cobblestone, which he declared “Cobblestone Equals Life” in their FTB Minecraft series.

In August 2014, Ssundee started working with Crainer, and launched a series called “SkyFactory.” However, it faced heavy criticism from Lanceypooh’s fans. Despite the challenges, both Ssundee and Crainer continued their collaboration.

From December 2017 to April 2018, Ssundee took a break from uploading videos to focus on personal matters and family. He announced his hiatus in a video on 3rd January 2018 and resumed posting on 18th April 2018.

Personal Life

Talking about Ssundee’s personal life, he was married to Madelyn Joi. The two tied the knot in 2006 and had a son named Colton. However, their marriage didn’t last long and the two ended up divorcing each other in 2012. 

Two years later in 2014, the couple rekindled their relationship. But they faced difficulties again and went their separate ways in 2017. Despite this, they reconciled later that same year.

In November 2019, they welcomed their second son, Simeon Luke. Ian has mentioned that since Simeon’s birth, their marriage has improved and is stronger than ever.
