Early Life
Born on 14th November 1964 in Wallingford, Berkshire, England, Katty Kay was named Katherine Katty Kay and was raised in Blewbury. His father was a British diplomat, and her mother was a journalist, a possible influence on her. Throughout her childhood, she travelled to many countries, mainly in the Middle East, where his father was posted. She also has 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Soon after graduating, Katty Kay joined as a banker at the Bank of England but dropped out because she didn’t feel the job was a right fit for her. She took this seriously and joined the BBC as a correspondent for World Service Radio in Zimbabwe in 1990.
