Apple’s Share of True Wireless Earphones Market Dropping Despite AirPods Sales Growth: Report

Despite being one of the leading tech companies in the world, Apple is losing its market share of wireless earphones. Currently, it just holds 35% of the market segment. Although the sales of Airpods have gone up, the market share has reduced.

The main cause behind this fall is the availability of other alternatives that are not only affordable but also efficient. Most of these alternatives are Chinese products. In other words, Apple is facing stiff competition from its Chinese rivals. It is because of these Chinese companies that Apple has lost its market share for True Wireless Stereo.

Other than Chinese companies, Apple is also facing tough competition from Samsung which is another biggie in the tech world. Samsung is expected to raise the competition bar in the second half of this year. Despite all this bad news, Apple has managed to maintain its sales. Not just that, but they are expecting a sales growth of AirPods TWS earbuds in the coming future.

According to a Bloomberg report, the company by the end of this year will end up with just 35% of the market share. Whereas, Samsung will hold 6% of the market and Xiaomi 10%. Other companies like JBL and Jabra will hold a 3% share each. The remaining 43% of the market will be held by other players.

Popular audio brands like Beyerdynamic, Audio-Technica, and Sennheiser are reported to hold less than 0.3% of the total market share.

In 2019, Apple occupied half of the sales wireless earphones market. But now it has dropped to just 35%. However, they expected to sell 82 million units this year. The previous year, they sold around 61 million units as stated by data. But other companies are lowering their prices to occupy most of the market share. This has resulted in less market share for Apple.

Liz Lee analyst of Counterpoint said that US makers and Chinese brands like JLab are eating away the majority of the market share.

He also added that Samsung can obtain more users if they start providing a wide range of TWS devices.

He also mentioned that the competition between Apple and Samsung is expected to increase by the end of this year. Samsung is already investing more money in this category. They have also received many good reviews on the Galaxy Buds Live. This can reduce the gap between the two tech giants.
