This English medium school in Surat, Gujarat, India has introduced a new tradition of gifting plants to students on their birthdays. Instead of giving materialistic gifts like chocolates, stationary, and others, teachers at L.P. Savani Riverside School gift plants to promote eco-friendly practices among students.

The school recently showed the same gesture on Uday Ajaybhai Damraliya’s (Jr.kg-Truth) birthday by gifting him plants on his special day. Needless to say, this gesture sparked appreciation from both parents and staff. Plus, it is a good way to nurture young minds.

Not just the teachers Monika Modi and Priyanka, but Even Hemali Desai, the school’s principal was present during this time. This particular event not only made Uday happy but also highlighted the importance of protecting nature.

Uday was gifted two plants, including Asopalav and Alocasia Odora, which symbolize the school’s commitment towards sustainable habits. Acknowledging the special days of kids,  by gifting plants teaches students to practice sustainability from a young age. This practice may not be very common, but it is quite effective.

In today’s time, people focus more on materialistic gifts and parties, especially when it comes to birthday celebrations. But L. P. Savani Riverside School is determined to change this norm.
