Well, Sarah Mathers and Eminem share the same father. She wasn’t known as Eminem’s sister for a long time, mainly because she was not aware of her relationship with the rapper herself.

In the 2002 movie “8 Mile,” Eminem’s character had a sister named Lily. Since the movie was partly inspired by Eminem’s own life, fans speculated that he had a sister named Lily. Is Sarah Mathers Eminem’s Half-Sister?

Eminem was born as Marshall Mathers. He was only six months old when his father left and started a new family. Sarah only discovered she was the half-sister of the famous artist many years later.

During a family barbecue, Sarah was surprised to see on TV the same child her father had abandoned 31 years earlier. It wasn’t until Eminem became a global music sensation that his family attempted to reconnect.

According to Eminem’s mother, Sarah tried to meet Eminem backstage. However, the rapper declined to see them. Sarah herself had never reached out to Eminem until he became famous. He later expressed his feelings through his 2000 album “The Marshall Mathers LP.”

Other than Eminem, Sarah Mathers has another brother named Michael. However, there’s not much information available about him on the internet.

Coming to Sarah’s father, Marshall Bruce Mathers was born on 30th June 1951, in Missouri. He married Eminem’s mother, Debbie, when she was just 15 years old and he was 22. Two years later, they welcomed their only child, Eminem.

After Eminem’s birth, Marshall abandoned his family. But he later tried to reconnect through letters but didn’t get a response. Meanwhile, Eminem faced bullying at school during his early years.

In 2001, when Eminem’s career took off, his father sought reconciliation through the media, expressing a desire to reconnect as a father. He wrote in an open letter to his son that he had been misled about him and wanted to set the record straight. 

However, Eminem showed no interest in reconnecting with his father and simply dismissed his plea.

According to reports, Marshall Bruce Mathers passed away on 26th June 2019, in Indiana, after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was 67 years old at the time of his death and was laid to rest at Saint Joseph Memorial Park.

Given Eminem’s family dynamics, it is clear that he was never close to his family. Even though his half-sister, Sarah Mathers tried to reconnect with him, he didn’t care.
