Born on 20th August 1976, Tamara Day was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where she lived with her parents and led a happy life as a child. Though there’s not much information available about her parents, we do know her father’s name is Ward, and he worked in the construction industry, which is one of the main reasons Tamara took an interest in renovation work.
Tamara shared a very close bond with her father as a child and also followed him to his work sites, where she watched him work on different projects. It was her father who taught her the basics of home improvement and developed an interest in design and restoration gradually.
As for studies, she attended Kansas State University and completed her graduation in communications before pursuing her career as a home designer.
Tamara’s journey into renovation began after she and her husband bought a large home in 2008, but since it was in poor shape, she took on the challenge to fix it herself.
She became more interested in home design and renovation while working on her own house, and also started visiting garage sales to find old furniture she could restore. This led her to set up her own business, Growing Days, where she sold restored home décor and furniture from the ground floor of her house.
She paused the shop as her responsibilities as a housewife and mother grew, but she was determined to continue her passion in some way or another, and that’s what led her to the show Bargain Mansion.
Tamara’s talent didn’t go unnoticed as the DIY Network discovered her work and wanted to create a show, but the concept was later pitched to HGTV, and that’s how Bargain Mansions was born.
The show featured Tamara and her team as they turned neglected homes into beautiful spaces using their skills and creative knowledge, making it a hit among viewers.
With her growing responsibilities, she launched an online store so she could stay close to her family and manage much of her work from home.
Tamara is happily married to Bill Day, the man she met in 1998 and married in 2000. They have been married for 23 years and share four beautiful children, including one daughter and three sons.
Tamara made money by renovating old houses and selling them for a profit before she became a television personality. Her appearance on the show Bargain Mansions, where she showcased her creativity and leadership, changed her career forever, as it put her in the limelight.
According to recent reports, Tamara’s net worth is around $3 million, the majority of which came from her TV career, online store, and renovation business that she is so passionate about.
