Simu Liu was born on April 19, 1989, to Zheng and Zhenning Liu in Harbin, China. Both of his parents were engineers. During his childhood, Simu was raised by his grandparents while his parents worked hard to make ends meet.
However, later, the couple decided to immigrate to Canada with hopes to study aerospace engineering and settle down there. At the age of 5, Simu Liu immigrated to Mississauga, Ontario with his parents.
Liu completed high school at the University of Toronto Schools and later graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey Business School in 2011.
