Born on 25th November, 1963, in Ramat HaSharon, Israel, Tornai’s comes from a very diverse family that was also artistically inclined. Her father was from Egyptian Jewish Descent, and her mother was from Moroccan Jewish descent, and her father is believed to be a diplomat from Alexandria. However, not much about her parents and siblings has been shared. Her mixed culture influenced the artist in her, which would reflect in her designs. She attended local schools in Israel and later went to Paris to pursue her interest in performing arts. Initially, she wanted to become an actress and spend considerable time polishing her acting by performing in theatres. Tornai started her career after returning to Israel from Paris in 1992 and started trying to showcase her work in the bridal fashion industry mainly in Tel Aviv. Most of the boutiques rejected her work, claiming her gowns to be too bold for traditional brides.
Tired of getting rejected and sticking to her values of designing, she opened her own boutique and started selling the gowns.
