Moulay Hassan, the crown prince, is the only son and the eldest child of King Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma, and was born on 8th May 2003 in Rabat, Morocco. Named as Moulay El Hassan bin Mohammed, his father is the present king of Morocco, and Moulay has been named after his grandfather, King Hassan II. He only has one sibling, Princess Lalla Khajida, who was born in 2007.
Moulay, as born in the royal family of Morocco, was raised in a private and close-knit environment, where he was taught about the royal traditions from a very young age, and he was exposed to face public life very early. From a very young age, he is accompanied his father in royal meeting and affairs, to prepare him for his role as the King after his father.
He went to the Royal College in Rabat to complete his early education and a school where all members from the royal family went to. In 2020, he passed baccalaureate exams with distinction and later took up studies in fields of Governance and International Relations from the Royal College of Military and Strategic Studies, which later proved to be a great asset in his early career.
The career of Prince Moulay Hassan is strictly focused towards royal duties, and he has been taking care of the same since he was around 12 years oil. By 2015, he started to appear publicly in a military uniform showing his duties for the military. On 31st July 2015, he attended the swearing-in ceremony of new military officers.
In 2017, at the age of 14, Hassan took formal roles in the military and on 14th May 2017, he supervised a royal luncheon honoring the 61st anniversary of the Royal Armed Forces, and appeared in uniform of the rank of “Army Colonel.” Post completing his secondary school, Hassan delved deeper into learning and understanding the military and its knowledge, and enrolled in the Royal College of Higher Military Studies.
In 2019, he supervised the graduation ceremony of the 19th Advanced Defense Course and 53rd Staff Course. The same year, he represented his country and father by appearing for the funeral of French President Jacques Chirac in Paris, where he stood beside the world leaders.
During 2022 and 2023, Moulay expanded his appearances other than military and defense and started to represent his father at multiple events and other ceremonies, and by 2024, he started to appear more internationally to strengthen his role as the prince.
On July 31st, 2025, he was promoted to Colonel Major in the Royal Armed Forces, which showcases his professional achievements.
As the crown prince of Morocco, Moulay Hassan didn’t need a moment of fame because he was already in the limelight. However, he started to make international news with public appearances from 2015 in several ceremonies taking place in Morocco. In 2019, his fame reached its peak when he was spotted at the funeral of the French President Jacques Chirac in Paris.
