Mike Reno was born on 8th January 1955, in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. However, he spent most of his childhood in the South Okanagan. Growing up, Reno was exposed to different music genres and started writing lyrics at the age of 12 or 13. As he grew up, his love for music also grew, leading him to take singing lessons.
As far as his education is concerned, Reno attended Penticton Secondary School, where he performed in small gigs. His early exposure to music and performance helped shape his identity as a successful artist in his adulthood.
Mike Reno’s career started when he joined a cover band Morning Glory during his high school days. Later, he became a member of another cover band called Synergy.
In the mid-1970s, Reno became the lead vocalist for Hammersmith, a Canadian rock band known for its heavy guitar riffs and gritty vocals. Though the band didn’t achieve mainstream success, it gave Reno his first experience touring and recording. His time with Hammersmith laid the groundwork for what would come next.
