Liverpool’s Juergen Klopp Aware of the Challenge Posed by Sheffield United

Though Liverpool remains a winner in the past 61 home Premier League matches, its manager Juergen Klopp is very much observant of the threat posed by Sheffield United through their challenge on Saturday. From the period of 1978 to 1981, Liverpool, the Premier League champions are known for their record win of 63 home Premier League matches.

To our memory, Liverpool got beaten in the league at 2-1 to Crystal Palace in 2017, April, at Anfield. Sheffield United of Chris Wilder is the surprise package of the last season, as they finished ninth after their top-flight return. They are but considered winless and in 19th after the new season’s five games.

Liverpool’s manager Juergen Klopp stated in a news conference, “Sheffield United … deserve a lot of attention for what they do because it is really good”. He further added, “Even when the results are not so far like they wished for the performances, they have not been bad and I’m sure Chris Wilder knows that. For us that makes it tricky and they had a full week to prepare for this game.”

He has told that what Sheffield United does is good and they do deserve a lot of attention. Though numerous first-team players of Sheffield United were injured, had four continuous losses, and lacked options for goalscoring, they have gained a great improvement in the last Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham.

Brazilian midfielder Fabinho was seen moving to the central defense in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, who was injured. In the Champions League on Wednesday, Fabinho also showed a great display with Liverpool beating Ajax Amsterdam at 1-0.

Liverpool’s manager Juergen Klopp has stated that his new-look defensive line will surely require time to settle down as Van Dijk set for an extended spell on the sidelines. Klopp further said, “We don’t want to know how long he’ll (Van Dijk) be out for. It will take the clear time. We all know Fab can play this position, he did it against Bayern (Munich) last year in a home game, for example, and he played great. But this line had not played together before the Ajax game. You can’t talk about it or exchange notes, it is about feeling what is right. It will take time for these boys to get used to each other.”
