His father worked as a mechanical engineer at HK Systems in Kentucky, while his mother was a grammar school teacher at Our Lady of Victory. He worked for Congressman Steve Driehaus from 2009 to 2011 and later held the same role for Congressman Joe Kennedy III of Massachusetts from 2013 to 2021. Additionally, he worked as Deputy National Finance Director with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as Deputy National Finance Director.
Gregory Mecher is married to Jen Psaki. The two met for the first time in 2006 while they were working for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The first time, they interacted was over the phone, when Jen mistakenly directed Gregory to the wrong event. Despite this hiccup, the two later met in person, and Gregory was immediately drawn to her.
After dating for a few years, the two got married on 8th March 2010, in Maryland. Together, they have built a happy family and have two children, including a son and a daughter. Their daughter is named Genevieve Mecher, and their son is Matthew Mecher.
