As per various online sources, Gregory Mecher was born on 30th September 1976, in Southern Cincinnati, Ohio, to parents Michael Mecher and Mary Ann. His father worked as a mechanical engineer at HK Systems in Kentucky, while his mother was a grammar school teacher at Our Lady of Victory. Mecher grew up with his two siblings, David and Daniel Mecher.
As far as his education is concerned, Mecher attended Elder High School, an all-boys Catholic prep school in Cincinnati. After completing his graduation, he enrolled at Northern Kentucky University (NKU), where he studied Communications and Television Production. He completed his degree in 1999.

Following this, Gregory pursued a career on Capitol Hill. He worked for Congressman Steve Driehaus from 2009 to 2011 and later held the same role for Congressman Joe Kennedy III of Massachusetts from 2013 to 2021. Additionally, he worked as Deputy National Finance Director with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as Deputy National Finance Director.
Gregory Mecher is married to Jen Psaki. The two met for the first time in 2006 while they were working for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The first time, they interacted was over the phone, when Jen mistakenly directed Gregory to the wrong event. Despite this hiccup, the two later met in person, and Gregory was immediately drawn to her.
