Google Pixel 8a To Receive DisplayPort Output Support, 120Hz Display, Tensor G3 Chip, and More

According to reports, Google is gearing up to unveil its much-awaited Pixel 8a during the annual I/O developer conference in May. The successor to the Pixel 7a is set to make waves with its upgraded features, according to recent leaks and insider sources.

Google Pixel 8a is expected to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor. The device is rumoured to sport a range of enhancements, including support for DisplayPort output and a refresh rate of 120Hz. These advancements promise a smoother and more versatile user experience compared to the older model.

Reports from Android Authority indicate that Google aims to elevate the Pixel 8a’s display quality with a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED panel with a max HDR brightness of 1,400 nits. This aligns with the specifications found in the higher-tier Pixel 8, hinting at a premium visual experience for users.

The report further highlights a notable change in the screen’s corner radius. At 129 pixels in its native resolution, the corners of the display are expected to be more rounded compared to Pixel 7a’s 47 pixels, and even slightly more pronounced than the Pixel 8’s 102 pixels radius.

The Pixel 8a is said to be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, a variant of the advanced processor utilized in the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8. While similar in performance, the Pixel 8a’s chipset reportedly employs integrated package-on-package (IPoP) technology, setting it apart from its counterparts.

Camera enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the Pixel 8a is expected to retain the impressive camera setup of its predecessor, featuring a 64-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). Additionally, it boasts a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. For selfie lovers, the device has a 13-megapixel front camera. The inclusion of DisplayPort output support enhances the device’s connectivity options.

Google’s commitment to expanding its market reach is evident, with plans to launch the Pixel 8a in a wider range of countries compared to its predecessor. While the Pixel 7a is currently available in 21 countries, the Pixel 8a is set to debut in several new markets across Europe, including the Estonia, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Romania, Poland, and Slovakia.

Tech enthusiasts and consumers alike eagerly await the official unveiling of the Pixel 8a, scheduled to take place during the Google I/O event on 14th May.
