Eric – A Look into the Dark Heart of 1980s New York

What can we expect from Eric?

At the heart of “Eric” lies Vincent (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), a successful puppeteer and the creator of a beloved children’s television show, “Good Day Sunshine.” Vincent’s idyllic world crumbles when his nine-year-old son, Edgar, vanishes without a trace on his way to school. 

Consumed by grief and guilt, Vincent clings to a desperate hope – a recurring drawing by Edgar of a blue monster named Eric living under his bed. Believing this to be a clue, Vincent becomes fixated on bringing Eric to life on his show, convinced it will somehow lead him back to Edgar. 

However, Vincent’s quest for answers takes him on a dark and dangerous path. As he delves deeper into the underbelly of 1980s New York, Vincent uncovers a city riddled with corruption and secrets. The series is set against the backdrop of the AIDS epidemic, adding a layer of social commentary to the gripping narrative. 

Meanwhile, Detective Ledroit, a seasoned investigator burdened by his hidden past, finds himself drawn into the case of Edgar’s disappearance. Ledroit’s investigation intersects with Vincent’s frantic search, leading them both down a rabbit hole of deception and danger.  

As the two men navigate the city’s shadowy corners, they must confront not only the darkness outside but also the demons within themselves. “Eric” promises to be a complex and multilayered thriller. Expect heart-wrenching moments of grief juxtaposed with edge-of-your-seat suspense. 

The series delves into themes of loss, obsession, and the lengths people will go to protect their loved ones.
