Dahaad, a popular Hindi police series, released on 12th May 2023, impressed the audience with its gripping storyline and stellar performances. Now that the first season is over, it left viewers thrilled and wanting more.
The good news is that the second season of Dahaad is confirmed. After a year of its release, Zoya Akhtar, one of the board members for the Jio MAMI festival confirmed that the show will return for a second season.
Ever since the news went public, fans have been excited for the show to return on Amazon Prime Video. The story takes place in Mandawa, a small town in India, and mixes mystery, crime, and drama. It follows female sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati played by Sonakshi Sinha as she investigates the disappearance of 27 women.

In season 1, sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati faces a troubling case where 27 women have gone missing across the state. Anjali discovers a common link among the cases, suspecting a serial killer may be at work. This shifts her focus from mysterious disappearances to a calculated scheme.
Anjali uncovers a pattern among the missing women. They were from lower castes, over 25 years old, unable to marry due to poverty and lack of dowry, and emotionally vulnerable. Tracing their phone records, she realizes they all died from cyanide poisoning the day after eloping with their partners.
Anand Swarnakar, a college lecturer, teaches underprivileged children. His wife Vandana has an affair with a coworker named Jai. Anand’s son Kapish finds a phone in his father’s van. Police traced it to Anand, leading to his interrogation. No evidence is found, but clues point to Anand’s younger brother Shiv, who is arrested. Anand flees to Goa with Mariam where he gets arrested by Anjali and her team.
Anjali questions Anand’s motives for killing innocent women. He justifies his actions, claiming the women deserved punishment. Despite her police role, he criticizes Anjali’s caste background and her relationship with her boss.
While Dahaad season 2 is confirmed, we don’t have an official release date yet. Both Amazon Prime and the show makers are yet to confirm the premiere date.
Since season 2 was announced just recently, we can expect the show to return on the OTT platform in late 2024 or early 2025.
The plot for Dahaad season 2 is mostly a secret. In October 2023, Zoya Akhtar confirmed that Reema Kagti had started writing the script, but details are limited.
Given the season 1 finale, Anjali might tackle another cold case or a current serial killer. Anand’s final speech suggests there are more killers like him for Anjali to find.
