The brand Big Mouth Toothbrush was founded in 2022 by an Orthodontist, Dr. Bobbi Peterson, based in Brooklyn, and was launched in the same year. The idea behind the product is to deal with oral health struggles like tooth decay and other dental issues, and to make dental care easy and accessible. The product is an oversized electric toothbrush that covers more surface of the mouth and teeth than a standard brush.

At the beginning, the product was available in only one design, but with multiple cleaning modes like clean, polish, whitens, sensitive, and gum care. Later, more additions were made, like Sonic Toothbrush 2.0, which had more advanced features like vibration technology. One amazing feature of the brand is that they have a pink manual toothbrush to show awareness for breast cancer. About the Founder

The founder of the Big Mouth Toothbrush is Dr. Bobbi Peterson, who is an Orthodontist based in Brooklyn. She studied Biology at Drexel University and later went to Howard University College of Dentistry. She completed her residency at Maimonides Medical Center and opened her own clinic, Aces Braces.

Throughout her professional practice, she realised how people are struggling with dental issues as they failed to follow hygiene, which was not possible to achieve with a traditional brush. She developed the Big Mouth Toothbrush in 2022 and made it available in the market, and later in 2023, she appeared with her product on Shark Tank.

What Happened at Shark Tank?

Dr. Bobbi Peterson appeared with her product on Shark Tank Season 14, Episode 16, which aired on 3rd March 2023. She started the pitch by explaining the product and how the Big Mouth can eliminate gum and dental issues, which affects about 50% of the world population.

She further explained the 5 different modes that the product comes with, as she has a patent over the design, she can only have the right to manufacture them. She said that she wanted the funds to improve the packaging and make it available in retail stores.  She asked for the $150,000 in exchange for 10% equity in her company, and her brand was valued at $1.5 million.

Robert Herjavec was impressed with her efforts and achievements, but stated tough competition was and chose to be out. Mark Cuban felt that she was spreading herself too much, and Barbara Corcoran chose to be out as she didn’t find the business her niche. Kevin O’ Leary offered her $150,000 for 20% equity and $5 per unit sold as royalty.

Barbara re-enters the discussion and offers $150,000 for 20% equity with $2 royalty, which was accepted by Bobbi.

Is The Brand Successful?

Post the appearance on Shark Tank, the entire stock was sold off within 24 hours, and newer versions were introduced, like Sonic Toothbrush 2.0 with better features. At present, the brand has recorded annual sales of $1.2 million and a net worth of $1.5 million.
