Benjilock is considered a revolutionary product in the security industry. It is a hybrid lock system that allows users to unlock it using their fingerprint or a traditional key.
The best thing about the innovation is that it can store multiple fingerprints, making it versatile for shared access scenarios. Since its foundation in 2014, by Robbie Cabral, BenjiLock has expanded its offerings to include door locks, bike locks, and luggage locks.
Robbie Cabral, the mind behind Benjilock, is from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, who later relocated to the U.S. in search of better opportunities.
However, his journey wasn’t easy. After losing his job, Cabral decided to improve his life and started going to the gym, where he watched people facing issues with their lockers daily. This is what inspired him to come up with a solution and Benjilock was born. Despite not having any prior experience in product development, Cabral designed his first lock and proceeded to launch his company in 2014.
When Robbie Cabral stepped into the Shark Tank, he proposed a deal of 10% equity stake in exchange for $200,000 investment in his company. At the time, Benjilock was still a prototype, but it was already packed with rich features. Also, he had secured several patents to protect his invention.
The Sharks were intrigued, particularly Lori Greiner. Even Kevin O’Leary saw major potential in the product and offered Robbie $200,000 for 15% of the company. Lori matched Kevin’s offer while Barbara Corcoran teamed up with Alex Rodriguez and proposed a $200,000 deal for 20%. Mark Cuban, on the other hand decided to sit this one out. After some thought, Robbie made his choice and accepted Kevin O’Leary’s offer, believing that he can help Benjilock grow and succeed.
Based on our research, we can tell that Benjilock is now in partnership with the makers of BRINKS locks, Hampton Products International. This has helped the brand spread its products at major retail outlets like Home Depot, ACE Hardware, QVC, Wal-Mart, Lowes, and others. The product is also available on the official website of Hampton.
As of 2025, Benjilock’s generated annual sales of $5 million, which tells us that the company is doing good business. In fact, they have expanded their product line and introduced locks for luggage, bike, and doors, using the same fingerprint technology.
