The first season of Barbarians was released in October 2020 on Netflix and since then the show has created an uproar among the audience.
Because the first two seasons of the show were a massive hit, it would be a crime for the creators to not bring back the show with a third season. However, given the uncertainty of the situation, it isn’t surprising that the audience seems to be quite frustrated with the lack of updates.
The second season of the show finished with its last episode a few months back, so to have a new season up and ready for release seems very unrealistic. So, it makes sense that Netflix has been taking some time to delay further updates about the show’s third season and a potential release date down the road.
If the show returns with Season 3, we can expect it to be released by 2024 or 2025. Until then, we’d recommend you go back to watching the first two seasons.
Season 2 of Barbarians ended with Arminius and the Germanic tribes defeating the Romans at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. However, the victory came at a high cost, with Thusnelda and Thumelicus being captured and taken to Rome.
Season 3 is likely to focus on Arminius’s attempts to rescue Thusnelda and Thumelicus from Rome. It is also likely to show the aftermath of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest and the impact it had on the relationship between Rome and the Germanic tribes.
