Arya Starr was born on 14th June 2002 in Cotonou, Benin and was named Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe. She spent her early childhood days moving between Nigeria and the Benin Republic owing to his father’s job. She was raised in a loving home and from a small age, showed her interest in arts and music, which her mother, Mrs Aderibigbe, very much supported because she herself was a former musician. Arya also has 4 siblings, and her elder brother Dami Ajayi helps her with writing songs.
In 2020, her father passed away, and her family moved to Nigeria, where her personality deepened and flourished. Ayra completed her primary and secondary education, shuffling between Benin and Lagos, but completed her higher education in International Relations and Political Science at Les Cours Sonou University in Benin. She also focused on her music at the same time.
Ayra Starr’s career began in her early teenage years with writing songs and singing regularly, being influenced by Afrobeat, R&B, and pop music that dominated her home. In 2018, she started to post cover songs and snippets of her music-making on social media platforms, and it gained her decent attention. In January 2021, Ayra released her debut EP, Ayra Starr, which included the hit single “Away,” and it established her career as one of the promising talents from Nigeria.
