Today Launches Weekly With The New York Times

Singapore - TODAY launches a classy, new product this weekend - the TODAY-New York Times International Weekly. The newspaper will showcase features on international affairs, social trends, arts and culture as well as business and finance. These features from The New York Times will be handpicked by a team of TODAY editors and laid out by a team of designers from the New York Times News Service.

This international weekly will be distributed as a pull out with Weekend TODAY and also available on the Singapore newspaper’s website - www.todayonline.com. With this collaboration, TODAY joins an elite club of 30 newspapers from around the world, which publish the international weekly.

The New York Times selects only one newspaper in each country for this collaboration, which dates back to 2002. Other partners include - Le Figaro in France, The Observer in UK and El Pais in Spain.

Announcing the landmark deal, Mr Patrick Yong, Managing Director, MediaCorp Press said: “We are extremely proud that The New York Times has chosen TODAY as their strategic partner in Singapore. This collaboration is a significant milestone for TODAY, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. It is an international endorsement of the newspaper’s credibility, reach and influence.

“On the business front, the international weekly will offer advertisers a new platform and a new environment to reach their target audience. This initiative is part of our effort to constantly improve the product, to make it a must read as well as the first choice for discerning advertisers,’ added Mr Yong, who is also the publisher.

TODAY Editor, Mr Walter Fernandez said: “This has been a challenging project to launch. The international weekly will offer TODAY readers some of the best features from around the world. It’s about moving with the times, catering to the TODAY reader with a global perspective. It’s about brand association between TODAY and The New York Times. And its proof readers don’t always have to pay for quality content.”
