Cartoon Network Ramps Up Community-Based Games

Cartoon Network is "THE" online games destination for kids' gamers around the Asia-Pacific region. Bolstering its leadership position in providing kids' online entertainment, the Network is geared up to unleash serious gaming fun with a slate of immersive casual games and exciting Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOG)

"2009 is the year of online community-based games for kids, and Cartoon Network is leading the way by investing in the interactive gaming category. Statistics show that kids spend the longest time on Cartoon Network websites in the region, and we feel that it is our role as the leading kids' entertainment provider to show kids what fun online gaming is really about," said Benjamin Grubbs, Regional Director, Turner Entertainment Interactive Media. "The ever-growing slate of games we offer and our commitment to ensure kids' safety in the digital space will make Cartoon Network the "go-to" online destination for all kids."

The gaming blitz begins with the online gaming sensation, FusionFall, arriving at selected Asia-Pacific markets this Summer. Following the successful launch of the FusionFall MMOG in the US market, the visually stunning game will soon embrace gamers in the Asia-Pacific region with a thrilling battle against an alien invasion. Ambitious and visually stunning, FusionFall is a game no gamer will want to miss.

That is not all! Cartoon Network, in partnership with TurnOut Ventures, is set to bring two new MMOGs to Asia-Pacific. With the phenomenal linear success of both Ben 10 and Tom and Jerry, the kids' entertainment provider is working double-step to develop the Ben 10 Omniverse MMOG and a Tom and Jerry MMOG. The game featuring the boy hero, Ben 10 and his amazing adventures is due to launch later in the year, while initial production has begun for the game on the iconic pair of mouse-cat rival. The Tom and Jerry MMOGis expected to make its debut in 2010.

The strong fleet of online games arrives on the heels of Ben 10 Alien Force Game Creator, which launched across the Asia-Pacific region to resounding success. Within the first month of its launch across four of Cartoon Network Asia's ten local websites, the gaming platform led to 100,000 games created by 20,000 kids, and attracted over 12 million game plays. The highly interactive element of the gaming platform, which allows players to create their own games and pass their completed creation to their friends, proves to be very popular. On average, two games were made every minute on Game Creator and four games were played every second. Game Creator will launch with local versions for Greater China in May, and in the Japan and Korea markets throughout the rest of 2009.
